Antique Norwegian Gilt Silver Cannetille Brooch
A gorgeous antique brooch by famed Norwegian Silversmith David Anderson.
Hand crafted in 830 silver and gilded with yellow gold for extra effect, the brooch features beautifully fine cannetille wirework with red, blue and white enamel highlights. The craftsmanship is superb.
Bearing the distinctive Hammer & Tongs stamp for David Anderson’s workshop (an early mark used between the years of 1888 and 1925), this piece dates from that period and may even have been made by the founding craftsman David Anderson himself!
The David Anderson company was founded in Oslo in 1876 and is one of Norway’s most famous traditional workshops. Their name has become synonymous with high quality Scandinavian enameled jewellery and looking at this beautiful piece it is easy to see why!
Measuring 22mm across, it fastens securely with its original C-clasp and shows no damage or loss of enameling.
A fabulous antique piece for securing lightweight scarves or for wearing on its own, it would make the perfect unusual gift for that special someone. Or perhaps a lovely treat for yourself!
