Victorian Aesthetic Style Brooch in Sterling Silver with Rose Gold Highlight
A striking antique brooch from the late Victorian Aesthetic period (c1880s), crafted in sterling silver with rose gold applique.
It depicts a wetland scene, with a stork wading amongst the rushes, flanked by lovely delicate flowers picked out in contrasting rose gold. Framed by an intricate geometric border, the detail is a combination of hand engraving and repousse work. The outer edge of the brooch features a lovely filigree border.
To the rear, the brooch also hosts a locket compartment with original frame & glass intact, ready to hold a picture or keepsake.
Measuring 41mm in length and weighing 7.63g, it is in excellent antique condition, fastening securely with its original c-clasp.
A fabulously detailed Aesthetic period brooch, full of Victorian charm!
