Mid-Century Waterlilly Brooch & Earrings Set in Sterling Silver
Unusual and so very charming! This vintage set of waterlilly earrings and matching “frog on a lillypad” brooch dates to the Mid-Century c1940s.
Crafted in sterling silver by Guglielmo Cini, a well-known Boston silversmith of the era, it was retailed by New York jewellers Black Starr & Gorham, bearing stamps for both.
The earrings are 2cm wide and are screwback (suitable for non-pierced ears), weighing a total of 7.8g for the pair.
The brooch is an impressive 5.9cm in length, weighing just over 32g. It fastens securely with its original rollover clasp. The surface of the lillypad has been lightly gilded with a gold wash, making the lilly blossom and Mr Froggy stand out in contrast.
Eye-catching and full of whimsy (I love froggy’s secret little smile!), this beautiful set will delight lovers of mid-century vintage jewellery.
