Victorian Revival MIZPAH Band Ring in 9ct Yellow Gold

USD Approx. $0

A charming antique-style ring bearing the popular Victorian inscription “MIZPAH” in gothic script.
Intended as tokens of love or friendship, “mizpah” jewellery refers to the hebrew word for watchtower and conveys the message “may the lord watch over me & thee while we are absent from one another”.
Originally dating from the mid to late 19th century, mizpah rings re-emerged in the 2nd half of the 20th century with the popularity of Victorian revival jewellery styles.
Bearing full London hallmarks for 1970, this ring dates from the latter period – though remaining faithful to the original Victorian style.
A lovely weighty ring, it is crafted from solid 9ct yellow gold (not hollowed out in a dome behind the face of the ring!) and so it hugs the finger beautifully. The band tapers from 7mm wide at the front, to just under 3mm at the rear.
Well-crafted and loaded with sentiment, this vintage beauty is a delight to wear!
